MEET SARA MILLER
THERAPIST in AUSTIN, TX for women
You can know what to do and still feel stuck.
We’re taught that strength means handling everything on our own. Keeping up, pushing through, and not needing much from anyone. But when self-help books, well-meaning advice and podcasts aren’t cutting it anymore, it usually means you’ve been carrying too much, for too long.
The truth is, we’re not meant to DIY our mental health.
I know reaching out can feel tricky — especially if you’re used to being the one who holds everything together for everyone else.
I’ve been there, too. In fact, that’s what ultimately led me to this work, almost by accident…
My Story
I’m a licensed professional counselor and a mom.
I know what it’s like to feel stretched thin and keep going anyway.
I’m really glad you’re here.
My path to this work wasn’t a straight line. It started with my own need to make sense of some really difficult experiences. Over a short period of time, I went through infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, my mom’s cancer diagnosis, and the loss of my dad. All while trying to keep up with work, relationships and the expectations I had for myself.
The weight of it all eventually led me to therapy. And that experience changed me. Not because everything became easy, but because I didn’t have to move through it in the same way anymore.
That’s what led me here. I shifted from a career in advertising and marketing to pursue graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since then, I’ve continued to deepen my work through specialized training in Interpersonal Neurobiology, an approach that helps us understand how our experiences shape the way we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others.
That experience shapes how I sit with clients now.
How I work
If you’re wanting more than just talking things through, we may be a good fit.
I’m not holding an agenda or telling you what to do. I’m paying close attention to what’s happening for you and helping you understand it as its happening.
Sometimes that means slowing down and making space for what’s hard. Sometimes we work more actively with what your mind is holding onto, or build skills that help you get through the day.
Over time, the goal is for you to feel more steady, more clear, and more able to trust yourself in the middle of it.
Here’s what that can look like:
-
We’ll connect the dots between your past experiences and what’s showing up now, especially the patterns that surface during stressful or transitional seasons of life.
So instead of feeling confused or self-critical, things start to make more sense.
-
On the outside, things may look “fine.”
But inside, you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like yourself. We’ll work through the pressure, self-doubt, and mental load, and begin to shift the patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
-
Not everything has to be fixed for things to feel better.
Together, we’ll build a more compassionate relationship with yourself so you can move through life with more steadiness, even when things are hard.
